The science of design.

Using the power of visuals to communicate complex concepts.

I work to understand both the subject matter and end goal of every project to find the most effective visual solutions tailored to their specific needs.

Children’s Education

When designing and illustrating for different stages of learning, I focus on what’s developmentally appropriate for each age group. Research is a key part of my process—it helps me understand not just the content, but how the audience will interact with it. This insight shapes everything from visual hierarchy to color, layout, and style, so the final design is both engaging and effective.

Rose (they/she)

Originally from Southern California, I have a deep love for learning about the natural world that has inspired my artistic career. With a Bachelor’s in Design and Biology from San Jose State and a Master’s in Scientific Illustration from Zuyd University in the Netherlands, I have tailored my education in art and design to apply to the causes I care about. My lifelong training in traditional fundamental drawing and design techniques have given me extensive anatomical education and draftsmanship skills, allowing me to develop concepts for any project’s purposes.

Passionate about contributing to environmental and social justice, I love to work with scientists, non-profits, creatives, and driven people working to make a difference. Through years of collaborating with scientists, educators, and communicators in diverse fields, I have learned the power of effective communication in creating a unified vision for any team’s mission. I believe in the power of accessible and usable design, and am passionate about bringing this to causes that educate and inspire.

Master’s Thesis

In my Master’s Thesis, I studied the different ways art and design can benefit causes in conservation by exploring two vastly different topics: snaring of African lions, and strandings of whales on the Dutch coast. I worked with Dr. Alexander Braczkowski who is a National Geographic explorer and researches and photographs lion populations in Africa, and scientists at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in the Netherlands. See the entire thesis here.
